Let Today be The First Day: You Give Back!!!

PRESS PLAY & LISTEN

Great Friday to you all!!! I am looking forward to the weekend and I pray you have at least one thing that you will do different to bring some excitement into your life. Well today I want to talk a little bit about the event that is coming up soon in my hometown of Albany, Ga. This benefit is very near and dear to me and I pray it will be a success and help others. One of my biggest supporters; Halaveshia Hall gave me a boost this morning, so the Friday Free For All Jam you are rocking to is courtesy of her!

The event that I am speaking of is The 1st Annual "S.H.E." Thing Benefit Weekend. This benefit is to raise funds and awareness for both Cancer and MS (multiple sclerosis). I am so thrilled about this benefit because of the out pour of positive feedback and support from the city, businesses, and residence here in Albany. The benefit will be a two day event that includes; inspirational speaking, an auction to give back, dinner, benefit concert, vendors, informational booths, testimonials, and great family fun! It's better to allow God to lead you, versus you stepping out on your own; because when he is in control all you have to do is follow the directions he gives you. Proverbs 12:13
says; Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. This benefit is the blueprint to plant those seeds of hope.

The first night of the event will be the benefit auction/dinner where there will be guest speakers (2), dinner, and a live auction. This event is formal (black tie). All of the proceeds from this auction will be split between the two organizations; The American Cancer Society and The National MS Society. I have lived part of this personally by watching my mother battle breast cancer. She is a survivor and is proof that this disease doesn't always win. she will be one of the guest speakers for Cancer and the other guest speaker is Mrs. Colette Jenkins who will speak about Ms as a person who is living with the disease. I always wanted to do something to give back, just never knew what to do. I later found out about a childhood friend who had been diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) and was led to finally take action.

The 1st Annual “"S.H.E"” Thing! Benefit Auction/Dinner and Family Fun Day of Awareness to raise funds and bring awareness to both Cancer and MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Outside of raising funds to help with a cure/educate others about these diseases, we want to shed a light on those who may not know the affects these diseases have on those in our community. Because there are those who may be living with the diseases or know someone that is directly affected by these diseases. It's A "S.H.E." Thing wants to be a beacon of hope for those persons or families dealing with these illnesses and by "Sharing Hope and Life Changing Experiences" we will leave a lasting impression for years to come.We will enjoy raffles, a live auction, and dinner on this night.

The second day and climax of the benefit will be a benefit concert that will be held in Downtown Albany. This event will be our Family Fun-day of Awareness and is free-to-the public and will consist of some of the best bands and acts from our city. This day will have vendors, food, informational booths, and testimonials through out the day. There may be a few surprises in store for those attending as well! Let Today be The First Day you give back! Find something you are passionate about and find a way to make a difference. The smallest act can make a world of difference!

I get so emotional when I think about those who have helped out with this event, the sponsors, vendors, and volunteers who chose to be apart of this monumental occasion. I'm not gone I'm just working hard for a cause i believe in.  Happy New Year and I pray the first 18 days of this year have given you nothing but hope, inspiration, and an undying will to Live! Today's topic is "swag" or as I look at it how to do you and be the best you. There have been things and people  that have tried to get me off track and make me doubt myself, but I had to realize what it was about me that I loved and how different I was. I won't hold you all long on today, but I want to give you all something to think about.

If you ever find yourself questioning your beauty, appearance, decisions, and listening to and allowing others to have the worst influence over you; check yourself! It's okay for people to have opinions, its fine for them to even judge, but you have to be secure in who you are and what your purpose in life is. For the one who has let go and stopped dolling yourself up because of how someone else has made you feel, guess what? You have let them win. Sad to say; the best way to nip a potential joy killer or confidence stealer in the bud is to do the opposite of what they expected you to do.

So, in the spirit of letting today be the first day you flip your swag switch on; for those who look for you to hold your head down in defeat; don't, for those who look for you not to smile, make sure you rock the biggest one (promise it will kill them privately), For those who have stopped fixing themselves up; find the flyest ensemble you have and rock it out, and for those who have given up on you; brush your shoulders off and start living! You are significant, you are beautiful, you are needed, you do matter, and someone loves you! But, it doesn't mean anything if you don't believe it for yourself. Confidence has always been sexy to me, so strut your confidence and when you look in the mirror give yourself a high five and smile! Until tomorrow I love you guys and remember: A failure is never determined by what you do, It's by what you don't do... With that being said; God gave us the greatest gift outside of life and that is creativity, so if you think of it or envision it; act on it or at least try it. "What-if "should not be an after-thought.

Wednesday it is!!! Heeey all of my midday humpers. Maybe your day has gotten off to a sluggish start but I am here with my "S" on my chest (cape included w/ wind for special effects) to the rescue! I am a little late today because it's my moms birthday and I had to be the annoying daughter that I am to her at times, but it's all in love. Sometimes we get so frustrated and irritated with the actions of others and even with things we may do ourselves at times. But, in times like this you have to remember whats important. Happiness is so much better than sorrow, a smile is better than a frown so on this fine day even though it is a mid week bustle; find the greater good in it all. I woke up this morning thinking of what would be a good motivation for my readers today and it's this simple; find someone and say something good to them, you never know who you may be helping. Sometimes it's good to think of others besides ourselves. 1 Corinthians 13 says: 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Smile, it's almost over! Hope you enjoy the groove!

I Got It...

Well, well, well!!! Tuesday is here and I am so happy this morning to update you all on today. I had the privilege to witness the awesome ministry of Kierra "KiKi" Sheard" on last night here in my hometown and it was nothing short of an experience! Remember that word because it is in that word that I have been seeking Gods face. When you are a leader you can't help what is inside of you and at times it gets trying because there is so much to be expected out of us. But, I found out last night during my worship that even we have to be refreshed and replenished to carry out our works.1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says: 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. I have to hold myself responsible for I am a vessel and weather I like it or not I am charged to be a better example to Gods people.

Maybe this was what I had been waiting on for the past two days. So, the fact that I am alone (single) is a good reason for me to continue to ask God to hide me and keep me, even when I don't want to be kept. Denying myself at times is a test within itself, but if I have to do that so that God gets the glory out of it; I will. Truly amazing how he loves us after we have turned our backs on him so many times before when it wasn't beneficial to us. I thrive to be honest about my walk and real. I am guilty of it at one point in my life or another. So, If I can leave any encouragement with you all on today; I will say that God is real and he is here waiting on our yes so he can take control and truly show us how much he loves us. Don't learn to be a circumstantial praiser; meaning you only praise God when things are going good in your life. "You see the depths of my heart and you love me the same" You are amazing God.

It's Friday!! You thought I forgot about you guys huh? Yea right; how could I! I normally don't talk about much on Fridays and for those of you who are new to the site, I typically inspire with my passion; Music! I've been jamming to this song all day on yesterday and couldn't wait to share it with you guys. Hopefully by now some of you are pulling yourselves together to get into business mode, but there is nothing like a "pick me up" and who better to give it to you but me! I hope this song brings a smile to your face, joy to your heart, a snap to your fingers, and bop to your heads out there. Have a great one and remember to Smile! It's contagious.

What are you going to be remembered for...

In my quest to make a difference, I realized that what we produce and the people we surround ourselves with matter. Sometimes we won't always have the right formula for success, but as my Bishop says; "How do you spell Success"? What may work for me may not work for you and so on and so forth. A lot of things that make the most impact have been tested and tried and initially failed. I have to always remind myself that where I am going is so much better than where I've been. So, even in deciding to be great and do what others wouldn't do you have to always remember to Live and own your happiness. What's the sense in doing the unthinkable if you're not going to wrap yourself in joy and stand on peace.

My motivation is ME and the experiences I've gone through in my life. You have to believe in you and for those that are with you in the process they have to be equip to go the distance. I stress all of the time about non believers and dream killers, but if you have those people around it only leaves you room to second guess yourself and your dreams. Fight for what it is that is important to you, never lose faith, never forget it could have been the other way, and always be thankful for those that helped you along the way. Everything we release in the atmosphere and everything we do matters, so; What will you be remembered for?

Inspiration

Hello all!! I pray this Friday has been as beautiful as you've perceived it to be and much more! When I look for encouragement and inspiration I don't keep myself in a box. So, on today I want to share what made my day and I hope you enjoy it. Have a great weekend and let the little things become major inspiration....

The mind is a terrible thing to waste...

So much going on in the news and in the world today. Makes me wonder how can I find happiness in everything good that is going on for me. When you know better, you do better and I've learned that in knowing better; that's just part of the task. Actions speaks louder than words and what is knowledge without putting all that you know to work? Today was a day of reflection for me, looking in the mirror and accepting what i see and I'm here to tell you I didn't like some of what was looking back at me. But, now I know what needs to be adjusted and with that I may be able to be a better person in it all. Change is always good, but it takes a made up mind to make it happen. Be the blessing you already are...

Thank you guys for your support and I am so greatful for the love my city has shown me. The best is yet to come...

Just a little will do.

As I sit here this morning with tears in my eyes, I am thankful that I haven't been left behind. God does things in his own timing and what we think about it has no affect on him either way. If how we wanted to do things were the way; then why is it that he is our saviour. I've had to recover from things and have been at times at a loss for words. Sometimes not even being able to pray a single prayer because the damage of what I had gone through took that much out of me. But, the thought of just me being thankful filled the gap when I couldn't say it. I always want my worship and my thanks to be real and somehow along the way I got lost, but I didn't leave and that makes all of the difference in where he takes me next. For the first time in a long time I prayed and God allowed me to have the words to say and it wasn't even about me. I'm full this morning because it didn't take a long time and it didn't take much for me to get into his presence. He was there all of the time for such a time as this. I'm at my lowest, yet God found a way to lift me up. Do you ever consider what it takes to be as forgiving and merciful as he is? I never know how much it cost to see my sins up on the cross... Just a little, but it says a multitude. That's why I worship him, that's why I can be an open book and tell how he brought me out. He didn't have to do what he did in dying to save me or you, but he did. Be more than, be greater than, be just who he has called you to be. Whatever area of life you are in know that he loves you and you're worth far more than just your job or your title. He's turning it around just for you! Do more than the usual, be more than the expected. God is still in control.

Where it all started!!

I remember when this book of mine had not even been in circulation a month and this young woman whom I had known from our hometown of Albany, Ga said that she would be interviewing me to feature on her website. I was so excited and gracious to know that she would be setting time aside to get the word out about my new project. Halaveshia Hall who has a story of her own to tell is a great addition to the blog world with her blog Kaidys Face which is dedicated to her daughter who is affectionately named Kaidy. I traveled to Atlanta, Ga for this interview and didn't know once I arrived how God would move on my behalf just because of the connections we had in our lives. I get emotional thinking about the chance encounter we had that day after the interview and how she shared so much with me as we sat in Buckhead and took in lunch together. You're never too old to learn and boy do I learn a thing or two from this virtuous woman! While you check out her site check out the feature interview of yours truly!!!
